Salzburg Austria Snow – Winter Weekend
Salzburg City – A Short Winter Weekend Guide
We finally made the trip to Salzburg in February 2019 and we weren’t disappointed with a winter visit. Salzburg is one of the most iconic cities in Europe and its landscape is well known, so we wanted to get here and see it with beautiful white rooftops and navigate around in the icy conditions. Having only recently returned to Europe from Singapore, it was quite a drop in temperature.
Anyway here is what we recommend for top sights not to miss when visiting Salzburg:
Salzburg Fortress (Hohensalzburg Castle)
Dominating the skyline from the Festungsberg Hill and with a rich history dating back over a 1,000 years.
Take the Festungsberg tram from the bottom of the hill and go and check out this incredible landmark and learn about the importance of this site throughout the ages.
Without a doubt the number one attraction in Salzburg Austria.
A Baroque Cathedral located in an enclosed square next to some of the other not to miss points (St. Peter’s Abbey and Salzburg Residenz).
The outside of Salzburg Cathedral may not be the grandest you’ve experienced, but we really do
Mozarts Geburtshaus (birthplace)
Salzburg is the home of Mozart, and you are going to see a lot of monuments, plaques, themed cafes and museums when you visit this region.
This particular house (now a museum) is incredibly popular, with tourists all over the world coming to Salzburg to visit. On display are many of Mozart’s musical instruments owned throughout his life, and what he used when composing some of his most loved compositions.
It could be considered rude not to pay homage to Salzburg’s most famous resident.
Salzburg Old Town & Getreidegasse
Here are two areas that you need to have a stroll around, both showing off really beautiful streets, outstanding architecture with an array of
These are also great areas to admire the sights or take some time to explore the shop or find a cafe and rest a little
